Mata’s time at Man United

Juan Mata has been plying his trade in the Premier League for nearly a decade now.

The gifted Spaniard joined Chelsea in the summer of 2011 from Valencia.

Mata went on to garner 135 appearances for the Blues, before he was sold to Manchester United in 2014 for a fee believed to be around £37m.

The attacking midfielder has since notched 249 appearances across all competitions for the Red Devils.

Across these ties, Mata has scored 48, assisted 42, and won a number of trophies, including the Europa League.

Mata’s best moment at Man United

At 31 years of age, Mata is perhaps coming into the twilight years of his career.

However, he is still a useful member of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad, with the Spaniard having earned 31 appearances this term.

Now, in a recent Q&A on Man United’s official website, Mata was asked to name his best moment in a United shirt.

The former Chelsea man seemingly couldn’t decide on just one moment, though, as he opted to highlight his debut for the club, the Europa League final in 2017, and a number of other events:

“My debut. It’s a moment I will always cherish. With Ole [Gunnar Solskjaer] as the Cardiff manager. Also the Europa League we won in Sweden. It was a very special trophy for us. It was the terrorist attack in Manchester a few hours before, so it was very special for us to win that trophy for the city. The game at Anfield, the FA Cup final, the Community Shield. There are many moments and, hopefully, many more to come.” As quoted by Manchester United’s official website.
