It’s always interesting to read about how celebrities live — and what’s particularly nice is that it’s often like pulling the curtain back on Oz and realizing there’s just another human back there. So, when I saw Priyanka Chopra decide to share what a typical day might look like for her, the natural inclination was to see how her life sizes up to quote-unquote “regular” people. Spoiler alert? It’s me. I’m regular people.

Chopra opened up to Harper’s Bazaar for the magazine’s February issue, which hits stands on Jan. 21. In it, the Quantico star walked through 24 typical hours in her world — from her first wake-up call to the moment she passes out for the night (or stays up entirely too late, depending on whether or not she has complete darkness). And there were of course, little bits of intel about Chopra’s personality and her life with husband, Nick Jonas.

So, let’s take a walk through some of the highlights, shall we? For starters, Chopra starts her day at 5 a.m. with being woken up by her chihuahua mix Diana. “I can hear her nails on the floor as she walks around the room — I’m a very light sleeper,” Chopra explains, adding she has to spend some time giving Diana attention before they both go back to sleep. “I love to sleep,” she says. And I feel that on a deeply personal level.

It’s no secret @priyankachopra is one of the busiest women in the world. So, for our February 2020 issue, we asked the actress/producer to take us inside her day of 3 million e-mails, 2 breakfasts, and 1 unfinished memoir… ⁣ ⁣ Tap the link in our bio to see what it’s like to spend 24 hours with @priyankachopra.

However, although I too am woken up at 5 a.m. on most days, I usually don’t get to go back to sleep. My dogs, who don’t have hundreds of thousands of followers on social media, need to go out, and my two kids are ravenous for first breakfast (they’re like hobbits: breakfast, second breakfast, elevenses, luncheon, afternoon tea, dinner, supper…).

To really get her day rolling at 7:30 a.m., Chopra needs music, like “Close” by her husband. “I decided to date him after seeing the video for ‘Close,’ where his shirt comes off. So that song is my favorite,” she says. I decided to date my husband after he hit on me at a bowling alley and the closest I come to a morning soundtrack is the symphonic arrangement of my husband’s snoring. So, the cheese stands alone on this one, Chopra.

Hair and makeup (top-knots are life) then follow, with coffee and breakfast in close secession. Then, Chopra says she should work out but *insert shrug emoji here.* “I have every intention to. But every day it’s like, ‘I’ll do it tomorrow, I’ll do it tomorrow.’ And then tomorrow never comes. It’s the Samuel Beckett version of working out,” she jokes. Perpetual workout procrastinator and casual allusions to Samuel Beckett? Starting to feel once more like Chopra is me and I am Chopra.

She then reads the news before addressing her email situation. And by addressing, I obviously mean totally ignoring. “I have almost three million unread e-mails on my phone,” she admits. And while I want to judge her for this, I have over 20,000 unopened emails on mine. So, uh, let’s move on.

The middle of the day consists of meetings with her team at her house, which involves a group of women with conflicting opinions eating from a charcuterie board and debating Chopra’s future projects. And speaking of future projects, Chopra carves out time around 3 p.m. to write her in-progress memoir, which is Unfinished in both title and reality. Since I’m a writer, I can say “same” on this front and it’ll always work. Writers forever have a woefully neglected manuscript in progress somewhere.

By late afternoon, Chopra is walking her dog around the block. By early evening, she and Jonas are blasting an online playlist called “Cooking Italian Dinner” while they eat pasta. And by midnight, she is attempting to go to sleep. “I have to go to sleep in complete darkness, with no noise; otherwise I’ll stay up all night. I’ll binge-watch Queer Eye,” she reveals. “I’ll call my mom or a friend or Nick if one of us is traveling. But if we’re home, I love to sleep.”

Swap out Queer Eye for true crime docu-series and calling Nick for Facebook creeping, and it’s like we’re the same person. Celebrities, just like us? Well, not quite — but Chopra’s day in the life does seem refreshingly laid-back for an A-lister.
